Premium steel-frame modular homes built in our factory and shipped across the Pacific to Hawai'i. Now building on Maui, Kauai, and the Big Island — single-family homes and multi-unit compounds.
Building in Hawai'i can mean significant material supply delays, labor shortages, unpredictable timelines and some of the highest construction costs in the country. Honomobo's factory-built approach gives you peace of mind and predictability.
Hawai'i's construction labor market is among the tightest in the nation. Traditional builds stall for months waiting on trades. Your Honomobo is built by our full-time factory team in Edmonton — 80+ people building homes every day in a climate-controlled facility.
Traditional construction in Hawai'i can stretch 18–24 months with weather delays, material backlogs, and schedule slips. Our typical project timeline is 10–12 months, with your home built in 12 weeks and site work done simultaneously.
Island construction costs spiral. Material prices fluctuate. Change orders stack up. Your Honomobo module price is locked at contract signing — and every finish is included. Countertops, cabinets, fixtures, cedar ceilings — all factory-installed before it ships.
Engineered structural steel frame and non-combustible steel siding built to meet or exceed local wind load and seismic requirements. Our homes are engineered to site-specific conditions — including Hawai'i's high wind exposure zones and coastal environments. Steel doesn't rot, warp, or feed termites.
Build a primary residence with an 'ohana unit, add a guest house or home office, or create a multi-unit compound — all factory-built with the same precision, shipped on the same vessel, and designed to work together on your property. With Honomobo, it's easy to combine multiple models to meet your objectives.
Every Honomobo is built with the same precision: structural steel frame, non-combustible exterior, floor-to-ceiling windows, and premium finishes. Combine any models to create the island property you envision.

Our largest model — expansive multi-level living with four bedrooms. The space of a traditional island home with factory-built precision. Designed to anchor a compound on larger island properties.

Generous single-level living with three bedrooms and premium finishes throughout. Our most popular primary residence — spacious enough to live in full-time with room for a home office and indoor-outdoor island living.

Three bedrooms, two baths, open-concept living in a versatile footprint. Our first Hawai'i installation — an HO4 on Kauai — is complete and opening for tours this April.

Two bedrooms and two full baths — ideal as an 'ohana dwelling, guest house within a compound, or a premium short-term rental. Pairs naturally with an HO5 as part of a larger island property.

Compact but complete — two bedrooms in 640 square feet. Perfect as a guest cottage, caretaker's unit, or second dwelling on a larger property. Our most efficient footprint for island lots.

A compact studio with kitchenette and ensuite. Ideal as a home office, creative studio, or self-contained guest suite within an island compound — adding function without the footprint of a full home.
Module prices include factory-built home with premium finishes. Shipping, foundation, site work, utility connections, lanai, and permits are additional and vary by island and property. Our typical project timeline is 10–12 months, with your home built in 12 weeks and site work done simultaneously. Request a detailed estimate →

Our process is structured and predictable. A dedicated Project Manager is assigned to your project from day one — coordinating between our design team, engineers, third-party consultants, and your local GC. You'll know exactly what to expect at every stage.
On-site review of your island property by Honomobo to assess truck and crane access and initial local zoning review. We confirm feasibility, ADU allowances, and provide an initial budget estimate before you commit.
Book Your Assessment →Our full-service design program begins with a Design Brief and 3D Conceptual Model for site planning. Then a submittal-ready drawing package is produced with engineering review and energy calculations — this becomes your permitting foundation. It's best to have your local GC on board at this stage. A complete Permit Submission Package follows, certified for your state.
Manufacturing starts with an approved building permit and Manufacturing Deposit, with payment in three draws over the 12-week build. While we build in the factory, your GC readies the site — services, foundation, and prep. We require a site visit to confirm your site and foundation are ready before shipping.
Your PM generates a logistics and on-site assembly plan — with final budget confirmed 30 days before shipping. Modules are trucked to a West Coast port, shipped via ocean freight to your island. Our Assembly Team works with a local crane company to land your home on the foundation and completes interior and exterior connections within 1–3 weeks. Local licensed contractors weld the unit to the foundation and connect electrical and wastewater. Final walkthrough with your PM, plus a Homeowner's Information Package.
We deliver homes across the Hawaiian island chain. If your property can accommodate a crane and a flatbed from the harbor, we can build there.
From West Maui's coastal properties to Upcountry ranch land. We're actively building on Maui with four units in production and our show suite in Ukumehame opening this summer. Port: Kahului Harbor.
Our first Hawai'i home is installed on Kauai. From the North Shore to Poipu, the Garden Isle's lush landscape is a perfect setting for Honomobo's glass-forward design. Port: Nawiliwili Harbor.
The Big Island has the space — and recent ADU legislation allows up to three accessory dwellings per lot. From Kohala Coast luxury to Volcano's tropical landscape. Ports: Kawaihae or Hilo Harbor.
Module pricing ranges from $174,790 (SO1 studio) to $744,177 (HS8 multi-level). Shipping, foundation, site work, utility connections, lanai, and permitting are additional and vary by island and property. Our typical project timeline is 10–12 months, with your home built in 12 weeks and site work happening simultaneously. We provide a detailed cost breakdown during the design phase so you know exactly what to expect.
Completed modules are transported by truck from our Edmonton factory to a West Coast port — typically Seattle, Oakland, or San Diego depending on routing — then shipped via ocean freight to Honolulu and barged to your island's closest harbor: Kahului on Maui, Nawiliwili on Kauai, Kawaihae or Hilo on the Big Island. From the harbor, a flatbed truck delivers the modules to your property where a mobile crane sets them on your prepared foundation.
Yes. Your local General Contractor (GC) handles foundation construction, utility connections, crane day coordination, and any site-built elements like lanais, garages, pools, and landscaping. It's best to have a GC on board during the design phase. We work with contractors across all three islands and can make introductions. We also partner with a Hawai'i-based architect who handles island-specific permitting. A dedicated Honomobo Project Manager coordinates between our design team, engineers, and your local GC throughout.
In most cases, yes. Hawai'i has been expanding ADU allowances — the Big Island now permits up to three accessory dwellings per lot under recent legislation. Maui and Kauai counties each have their own ADU regulations. Your specific allowance depends on zoning, lot size, and infrastructure capacity. We help navigate this during the design phase.
Absolutely — this is one of our strengths. Our Maui project is a two-unit compound (HO5 + HO3) connected by breezeways with a pool, lanais, and site-built garages. You can place multiple units on a property, phase construction over time, and ship everything on a coordinated schedule. We manage the entire compound as a single project.
Every Honomobo has a flat roof engineered with mounting points for photovoltaic panels. Given Hawai'i's electricity costs and solar potential, most island buyers install PV systems. Final sizing is completed by a local solar installer based on your energy needs. We leave provisions for battery storage systems.
The average total project timeline is 10–12 months from first engagement to move-in. The fixed portions are 12 weeks for factory manufacturing and 1–3 weeks for on-site assembly — plus approximately 2–3 weeks for ocean freight to Hawai'i. Design, engineering, and permitting timelines vary by county and project complexity. The factory build happens simultaneously with your foundation and site work, so the overall timeline is compressed versus traditional construction. Your Project Manager will provide a project-specific timeline during the design phase.
Tell us about your property and your vision. Whether you're planning a primary residence, an 'ohana unit, or a multi-home compound — we'll show you what's possible.
